Tollgrade Solutions for POTS Test and Management

Tollgrade currently manages the automated test process for over 160 Million POTS subscribers within North America – including each of the four RBOCs and numerous ILECs and CLECs.

Completing more than 30 Million automated test transactions per month within our core customer base, Tollgrade POTS solutions are heavily relied upon to remotely isolate incoming trouble reports and verify new service orders, thereby reducing technician dispatches and mean-time-to-repair.

Tollgrade’s LoopCare Test OSS drives the test process for all POTS test applications via a browser-based, zero-client GUI, well-documented CORBA client/server interface and/or Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. Additional test/analysis options, such as Batch Testing, Benchmark Database and/or DSL Pre-qualification, can be applied to optimize the utilization of Tollgrade’s solution within a given customer’s operation.

Tollgrade test hardware, including DigiTest EDGE and DigiTest HUB, provide LoopCare with the precision measurements required for quick and accurate POTS fault isolation from a variety of access points, including Class 5 test trunks and Broadband Loop Carrier Systems. LoopCare also maintains existing interfaces with a variety of non-Tollgrade legacy test heads, including those provided by Lucent Technologies and Fluke Networks (formerly Harris Corporation).

Integrated with most traditional and emerging loop carrier systems, Tollgrade’s patented MCU Channel Units are used to transparently extend Class 5 test access to an associated Remote Terminal location without the need for an RT-based test head or costly database management processes.
