DigiTest
Measurement Nodes
New DMU+ and LoopCare
Loop Insertion Loss technology expands telcos’ addressable
DSL customer base.
DigiTest® Measurement Nodes are deployed within
networks worldwide, providing the foundation
for switch-based metallic testing. The node
is a one-rack-unit-high chassis that houses
up to two plug-in modules, enabling it to be
configured for various narrowband and wideband
testing applications.
The Digital Measurement Unit Plus (DMU+) plug-in
incorporates the latest in Tollgrade testing
technology and builds upon the considerable
legacy of its forerunner, the DMU. It includes
a rich set of testing functions, built-in no-test
trunk (NTT) signaling and the option to add
a Loop Insertion Loss (LIL) module to perform
accurate, single-ended insertion loss measurements
at critical DSL frequencies using the Class
5 switch testing fabric.
A DMU+ can also be complemented with a Digital
Wideband Unit (DWU) to perform a broad array
of wideband measurements.
The LoopCare LIL
Feature, when used in conjunction with the
DigiTest DMU+ test head, performs insertion
loss measurements using an innovative technique
that can successfully test a given loop’s
ability to support the high frequencies associated
with ADSL and ADSL2+ services using the limited
narrowband frequency response of most Class
5 switches. As a result, this single-ended
insertion loss measurement serves as a highly
accurate prediction of actual DSL connect speeds.
