N(x)Test™ Broadband Remote Test Unit
Tollgrade’s N(x)Test is a next-generation modular, standalone (switch independent) subscriber loop measurement unit utilizing an open architecture, standardized interfaces and DSP measurement technology.
The N(x)Test unit can be controlled at the Remote Terminal (RT) of a Next-generation Digital Loop Carrier (NGDLC), any domestic or international PCM system or a switching system that has a Direct
Digital Interface (DDI) or test trunk.*
Tollgrade’s Line Test System Controller (LTSC) or any OSS that communicates using TL1 protocol can control the unit. Engineered for maximum application and location flexibility, the N(x)Test unit can address broadband testing, standard demand and interactive testing as well as OSS-controlled ALT batch processing on subscriber loops. The unit also offers expanded capability for testing and
loop pre-qualification for DSL services through the network element without the need for an external matrix.
N(x)DSL™-3 Broadband Remote Test Unit
Next-Generation Remote Testing
Tollgrade’s N(x)DSL-3 Broadband Remote Test Unit (RTU) delivers expanded test capability up to three times faster than the N(x)DSL. While continuing to feature powerful Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) andSpectrum Analysis technology, the N(x)DSL-3 adds ADSL2+ technology to perform quicker testing and emulation. Compatible with legacy test units, the N(x)DSL-3, when mated with the N(x)Test RTU, can conduct a full range of POTS and DSL testing to efficiently and economically perform prequalification, turn-up and maintenance of service. The addition of an SHDSL modem enables the N(x)DSL-3 to conduct prequalification and support for high-revenue, broadband business clients.
While the N(x)DSL-3 is best used coupled with the N(x)TestTM, it can also operate as a stand-alone DSL-only test head, measuring frequency response and time domain reflectometrics in the local subscriber loop to determine the line’s ability to carry digitized xDSL technology.
*Access to subscriber lines is controlled by a V.24/RS-232 port on domestic/international carrier systems.
